Valentine Baked Donuts

You guys, two food posts in one week... Who am I?! The sweet tooth is strong! πŸ’ͺ🏻 Just call me Martha Stewart! 😜 Okay, okay I'll calm down.

I definitely prefer baking to actual full on cooking, so I'm very thankful to have a hubby who enjoys cooking and is pretty darn good at it too!

This week I was inspired by a sweet friend to make donuts, and let me tell ya it's a game changer! We will definitely be adding these to the baking train. Since the donuts aren't fried they are super moist and totally remind me of a cupcake consistency but better!! πŸ™ŒπŸ»

I came across quite a few donut recipes and I'm all about easy! So it totally made sense to try a cake box version. Here's the recipe I used below.

Donuts Recipe

Ingredients:

1 box Cake mix of your choice (I used strawberry)
1 egg
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup water

Directions:

Whisk all ingredients until well blended
Spray donut pan with cooking spray
Fill donut pan about 2/3 full
Bake at 425 for 6-8 minutes or until donuts spring back when touched
Let cool 5-10 minutes

Tip: I put the batter into a large ziplock bag and cut a small corner at the bottom to use as my piping bag. Also, I filled my donut pan way too high, so next time I'm filling about 2/3 full.

Pink Icing Recipe

Ingredients:

1/2 cup confectioners powder
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
1 tablespoon Milk

Directions:

Combine all ingredients and stir until mixed well. I gradually added a bit more confection sugar to make my frosting thicker. Or if you would like it thinner add more milk. For the two tones of pink I used gel food coloring.

Tip: Sprinkle/decorate your donut right after you dip each donut because the icing sets pretty quick!

We can't wait to try a new flavor next time. Hope you guys enjoy this recipe as much as I do! Please tag me if you decide to give it a try, I'd love to see yours! πŸ©πŸ’—
